“...He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries. His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him-though he is not far from any one of us.” Acts 1:26b - 27
Despite the fact that God is so close to us, somehow we are able and prone to miss Him entirely. God has given us breath, supplied our needs and has gone so far as to determine the boundaries of the nations we live in; all with the express purpose of helping us to seek Him out, and feel our way towards Him. But how often have we looked at our circumstances, our place in life, political upheaval, even our geography, as something that is holding us back, something we resent God for. Perhaps these are really gifts, to lead us to call out to the One our heart is longing for.
God loves to be longed for. He longs to be sought.
For he sought us himself, with such longing and love.
He died for desire of us, Marvelous thought!
And He yearns for us now to be with Him above.”

This parallels the thoughts drawn out in PURSUED by Jud Wilhite, that I was reading out in the sun this afternoon...
