Lost and Found

Lost and Found.

I've been thinking about losing and finding lately.  I have been forced to.  I recently lost my license.  I have dumped out and rummaged through my purse several times.  I have looked through drawers, dresser tops, miscellaneous paper piles.  I have reluctantly combed through food wrappers, hair accessories, empty water bottles, school papers and old junk mail in the van, all to no avail.  I now have a clean purse, a more organized desk and a clean van...but no license.  This is frustrating.  (I did find a candy bar that I had forgotten about, and $50.  This is nice.)

At a recent women's retreat I attended we took a few moments to share around the table on our last day together.   There was something that was said that trumped all my concerns about a lost license, and made me think about losing and finding in a fresh way. We were asked what stood out to us about the weekend most.  One beautiful woman, with tears welling up in her eyes, said, "I'm just so glad that God found me!  I'm just so glad!".   Yes.  He searches for us,  -with a heart full of persistence,  patience and desire, - like a shepherd looks for his wandering and lost sheep....or maybe a little like a woman looking for a lost license.

He has come, with all his heart, to find us, and we are to seek Him with all our heart, -and He promises we will find Him and He will find us.

Yes, pine for thy God, fainting soul! ever pine;
Oh, languish mid all that life brings thee of mirth;
Famished, thirsty, and restless, -let such life be thine,-
For what sight is to heaven, desire is to earth.
God loves to be longed for, He loves to be sought.
For He sought us Himself, with such longing and love;
He died for desire of us,  Marvellous thought!
And he longs for us now to be with Him above.
