Asking the right questions

“Who are you, lord?”
“What should I do, Lord?”

Acts 22:8,10

Paul thought he was doing everything right.  He thought that he was serving God.

But when Paul truly encountered God, while on his way to persecute those following Him, he was brought to the ground, and into the blazing light of God’s presence.

And there he asked the right questions.

“Who are you, lord?”   In an instant, Paul discovered that he had never met this God.  He was stopped in his tracks by a Power new to him, but one that he must respond to.

“What should I do, Lord?”  As soon as he understood who was talking to him he knew that the only thing that made sense was to listen and follow. In an instant it was clear that he had made his life all about the wrong things.

These two questions, asked with all sincerity, changed Paul from the inside out.  They changed the course of his life.  We are still benefitting today from this man who yielded himself wholeheartedly to Jesus and let God change the trajectory of his life.

Asking the right questions, will change our lives, too.   Ask God to show himself to you.   And then be prepared to hear his desire and heart for you, and step out in faith and obedience.  It will change your life, and the lives of those around you.
